Coastal Garden

This garden was created alongside the Sunny Beach House Extension, linking the inside and outside. Basked in sun, and protected from the high winds of the area, with privacy from surrounding properties, this garden was an amazing opportunity to create a unique, multi-faceted space to enjoy year round by family and guests.

The garden is brought close to the house with generous swathes of planting, bound by cor ten steel edging, and planted with tall ornamental grasses and perennials. A lawn, large enough for a game of badminton catches the sun, with a dining patio surrounded by an existing mature magnolia grandiflora and voracious Passionflower and Echium. The patio steps into a gravel garden with planting which can handle the sun, wind and lack of irrigation. A stock-tank plunge pool, greenhouse, summerhouse and climbing wall make for a great escape from the majestic tides of the nearby beach.

This project was a collaboration with planting designer, Alexa Ryan-Mills.
