How can Fourfold Design help you with your build?
In addition to a detailed scope of works document; to assist with like for like and thorough builders quotes, I can offer hand-on role and professional support during the build. As part of this, there is ‘Tender Assistance’ and ‘Project Assistance’ to set you up for a smooth build.
Tender Assistance
Refers to the support an architect provides when a client is gathering quotes from builders (also known as ‘tendering’ the projects). Helping clients find and compare builder quotes, answer tender queries, and prepare the documentation that ensures your project is priced clearly and accurately. This includes:
Preparing a Tender Pack - drawings, scope of works, material schedule, and other documents builders need to price the job properly
Helping Select Builders - Recommending builders, sending out tenders to 2-4 contractors
Fielding Builders Questions - responding to RFIs (requests for information), clarifying drawings or specifications during the tender period
Reviewing Quotes - comparing itemised builder quotes, identifying gaps or anomalies, advising on which tender best suits the project needs
Negotiating Adjustments - Helping revise scope or clarify terms to align with budget and expectations before appointment
Project Assistance
Refers to ongoing design and coordination support during the build, whether clarifying drawings, making minor adjustments, or helping troubleshoot unexpected site issues. This includes:
Answering Builder Queries - clarifying design intent, helping resolve on-site uncertainties
Design Adjustments - making minor drawing updates if something changes on site (e.g. drainage routes, or on-site measurements)
Budget Tracking Advice - assisting in monitoring spend vs budget, especially when sourcing finishes
Mediating Issues - helping resolve disputes or miscommunications between the client and builder
Remote Assistance - Emails, calls, WhatsApps, and video calls to keep things moving smoothly
What’s in a name?
Fourfold continues a creative lineage. My grandfather, an artist, worked from Studio 2. My father still practising, runs Studio III. Fourfold is the next step—a design studio of my own, focused on thoughtful design for homes and gardens.
The name also reflects my design ethos. That a well-placed change can unlock far more than expected. More light. More space. More calm. More life. A fourfold return on careful thinking.
