A Forever Home to Live, Work, Host

Walthamstow, London, Completed 2025

This project was a collaboration with friends who had recently bought their forever home—a Victorian terrace in Walthamstow. Their goal was to create a space that would bring the family together around the spice infused kitchen, spend more time in their garden, and provide a comfortable private space for visiting relatives from abroad. The house was also calling out for integrated storage and shelving solutions to house their impressive library.

The design carefully balanced these needs by reintroducing a wall between the stair and middle room, adding a new internal window to bring borrowed light into the centre of the house and communication between the kitchen and playroom. At the rear, a full-width 4m extension creates a bright, open kitchen-dining space, perforated with large-format glazing and rooflights that draw light deep into the plan.

The result is a series of flexible, comfortable spaces that support everyday life, working from home, and hosting extended family—designed for longevity and lived-in warmth.
